Website Conversion Telephone Game

Recently, one of our most active LinkedIn® Discussion Group members asked me this question:

I’ve got the freebie, the opt-in box (including the pop-up), the blog, and the info on products and services. I am making good progress with building my list, but have no conversions from the site. What should I do?

There are many things to do in this case, but for today, I’m going to focus on what I call Website Conversion Telephone Game.

Shopping Cart Abandonment, With A Twist

There’s a good chance you’ve heard the phrase “shopping cart abandonment“, which pertains to the percentage of people who click the “buy” button on your website, start to fill out the order form, but then leave without completing the transaction.

What about when you are in an actual store, pushing your shopping cart down the aisle?  Do you just leave it and walk away?  How does this pertain to your website and internet marketing?

P.S. Step one in decreasing shopping cart abandonment is helping your visitors get to know you, like you, and trust you on the front end.  A great way to strike up the website conversion conversation is a landing page website that gives great free information.

Shampoo, Conditioner, Website Conversions And Upsells

Last night I went shopping and came home with everything I needed EXCEPT shampoo and conditioner.

The savviest marketing minds reading probably already guessed that they rearranged the aisles in the store and I got distracted by something I ran into while looking up and down several aisles in the general vicinity of where one would logically assume the shampoo and conditioner would have been moved to.  You’re right.

But there’s a larger point here:

P.S. A video website conversions critique like our Live Website Reviews will help you figure out if your “aisles” are too cluttered (or not cluttered enough?) so you stop losing sales and START serving more of your target market and your ideal prospects and customers.

Online Upsell Strategies: How to Easily Add 30% More Profits to Your Bottom Line

As the “go-to” resource for your industry and niche, it is both your responsibility and your opportunity to let your customers know everything you do.  People do business with:

  • People they know
  • People they like
  • People they trust

And as your ongoing conversion conversation with your prospects transforms more of them into subscribers, purchasers, clients, members, and customers for life, you owe it to them (as well as to yourself) to let them know ALL the ways you can add value.

This is why upsells are so important.  An “upsell” is an offer made to a customer who has already made a decision to buy from you.  It lets them know what else you have to offer that can add even more value to their purchase today.   Perhaps the most successful upsell in history:  “Do you want fries with that?”

Several upsells I have created for my various customers have added 30% or more to their profit margins by simply adding a short page to their website or a couple paragraphs to their shopping cart order form.  But would you believe that many others have refused to add upsells to their websites?
