Spotify And The Website Conversion Conversation

Just when we finally got all the games, quizzes, pillow-fights, and other website conversion conversation cluttering Facebook apps blocked so they stop appearing on our walls and interrupting what we’re trying to do, along comes Spotify.

The simplest way to describe Spotify is “Rhapsody or iTunes as a Facebook app.”

So when even a couple of my own clients urged me to give this Spotify a whirl, I listened.  (Ha ha, I get the double meaning of that statement.)

Since I listen to music, usually really loud, almost all day anyway, it was no big deal to set up some playlists and start playing them.  Then of course, the irrepressible marketer in me noticed the impact of Spotify on the website conversion conversation.  Continue reading

3 Reasons Why Your Current Website Presence May Be Wrecking Your Business

You may think your website is a “little old” or “in need of a little updating.”

It could be worse.

Actually, there’s a good chance your current website presence may, in the age of social media, be wrecking your business.

Take note: if even one of the following is the case for you, it’s probably costing you more customers than you can afford to lose…

1) The first-time visitor has no way of “checking in”. No opportunity for your visitor to enter their name and e-mail address to receive a tantalizing free offer? Impossible for your visitor to connect, circle, fan, or follow you in the social media sphere? That’s like inviting people to stop by your house and pretending to be out when they knock on the door.

I can’t emphasize this enough: you CANNOT rely on social media to be your “list.” What if they shut down, ban you, or the one that’s “hot” right now, where you’ve invested so much time and effort, becomes the next MySpace? (Already there are emerging indicators that Facebook, of all things, might be headed there eventually as Google+ continues to attract more users and prove better for SEO purposes. So listen up.) Have you thought about this? Continue reading

What You Will NOT Catch When You Fool Around With Just Anyone On Social Media (Part 2)

How many times have you gone out of your way to get a picture taken with someone you met at a seminar so you could slap it up in your photo album and tag it so everyone on their list can see you two together, all smiles, with their arm around you?

The same attractive force works for – or against – you in social media.  That person could be a carrier of disease that will lay you up with lessprofitosis.  Watch this:

I realize I’m just a voice in the crowd, talking out loud, but birds of a feather, and all…

Bringing it all together,

Conversion Conversation Social Media Mistakes That Get You Scratched And Bitten

Have you ever gotten scratched or bitten while playing with your dog or cat?

You know they weren’t “attacking you”.  They were actually quite happy (the cat was purring and chirping; the dog wagging her tail).

Then all of a sudden, they’re biting your arm or pawing you hard enough to draw blood.  No hissing or barking; they were just having fun!  In fact, when you stop playing they give you a sad look: “Hey, come back here, let’s play some more!”

Is this a playful look… or is she about to cut you to ribbons?

The simple fact is this: they were just rough-housing with you.  This is how they keep their hunting skills sharp.  The way you were petting or wrestling with them told them you WANTED to rough-house with them.  In fact, they expect you’ll bite or scratch them right back!   All the same, you’re not in a playful mood anymore.
